How can a browlift enhance my appearance?
A browlift corrects multiple forehead concerns. By removing extra skin this procedure allows correction of eyebrow shape and position, and decreases hooding of the skin over the upper eyelids (correction of extra skin of the eyelids themselves, an upper blepharoplasty, is handled through a different incision). A browlift also decreases forehead wrinkles by removing the attachments of the underlying frontalis muscle to the skin. Each of these effects improve youthful contour and reduce tired or irritable appearance.
What occurs during a browlift?
There are several versions of a browlift. The form most commonly used by Dr. McDaniel is a pretrichal browlift, where an incision is made along your forehead hairline. Dr. McDaniel used an advanced form of incision with a series of curves to visually "break up" the appearance of the scar to make it less noticeable. Excess skin is then freed from the underlying muscle through dissection down toward the eyebrows. The extra skin is then pulled upward and removed. Your incisions are then closed with absorbable stitches that do not need to be removed.

Can I have other operations at the same time?
Since your face and neck age together, it is very common to desire other procedures at the same time. Browlift is commonly combined with eyelid lift (blepharoplasty), in order to remove all extra skin from the orbital area at one time; facelift and necklift is another commonly added procedure. In addition, other body operations such as breast augmentation or tummy tuck (or both!) can be done at the same time.
How difficult is recovery from forehead lift?
Browlift recovery is mostly social in nature. You will soon (within a few days) feel up to normal activities. However, it may be around 2 weeks before swelling and bruising has subsided to the point that light makeup can conceal it. In addition, you should wait 3 weeks before taking part in cardiovascular exercise, which may prolong your recovery.
What kind of discomfort will I have after my procedure?
Discomfort after browlift is typically minimal. Numbness of the scalp skin is always present and usually takes several months to resolve. You will be prescribed pain medication, which is usually only needed for a few days after surgery. It is important to minimize postsurgical activity, which can increase discomfort.
What are scars like after browlift?
In the case of a pretrichal browlift, the scar will be a wavy ("curvilinear") one at the forehead hairline on each side. Occasionally Dr. McDaniel will connect the incision to maximize improvement in patients who would benefit.
What does a browlift cost & is financing available?
A forehead lift costs between $4000 and $6500, which includes all costs, including those for surgery, anesthesia, facility, and preoperative and postoperative care.
